It was very hazy last week.

You couldn't even see the bridge. Poor bridge.

You'll find the real picture here on flickr.

If you explore that some more you'll probably find all the crazy things the current nab grads get up to.

Good thing they won't be grads for much longer, hey?

Spent all weekend wrapping my head around tracing photos and figuring out how to shade with vectors and blending modes on photoshop....

How did I do?

Nutty weather

How insane is the weather in Melbourne! There was just enough time of non rain for me to walk across Docklands to my car in the car park before more rain set in, and as I was driving it then became sunny. I would have preferred that it was cloudy actually, as I face the sun when driving in the direction towards home.

It starts to pitter patter. Hmm still sunny though. Then comes some rain. Still sunny. But then out of the blue (or gray) it's starts hailing! Insanity! It's hailing and it's sunny! I felt like my car was in those ice machines at Hungry Jacks that make whirring noises to drop the ice down your cup, and there was a whole kids party with kids lining up all wanting ice.

o_O

And if that wasn't enough to drive me up the wall, all the hail/ice/frozenbits on the road were now reflecting the sunniness back to my eyes. Ouch.

I got hit in the eye as well by a soccer ball today. Double Ouch.

Get fresh

So fresh, that it includes a frog.

You won't need to toss your salad, the frog will jump all over the place for you.

Well..

Hey look it's November and I haven't written anything on here for a while.
Boo Hoo.

Well now I have.

So anyway, picking up where I left off, I've finally signed up to this myspace thing, and I must say that signing up on a Friday night isn't the best thing for Australians. The site screws a lot of the things up, but now it's fine. So add me as your friend.

It's similar to friendster, but less networky-ish, and more meet-up-with-other-people-who-are-like-you thing. It's default options are to publish all your details to anyone on the web! Imagine that... people will now know that I have no kids! Compared to them thinking that I might have kids...

But kids are so cute aren't they. When they're toddlers all most some of them are quite adorable! My currently two year old cousin thinks she can communicate with everyone now - she only manages to say one or two syllables at a time. Everyone falls for it and loves her... it's only two syllables!

Somehow I still manage to communicate with my family with two syllables and less:

Mum: "Do you want chicken for lunch?"
Me: "Yeh."
Mum: "How was your day?"
Me: "Mmmhehmmm..."
Mum: "Do you have someone special in your life?"
Me: "err." (Followed by walking away to avoid more questions)

But people don't find it anywhere near as cute.

Oh yes, that lousy glass cup. It's so lousy, I haven't taken a photo of it yet.

The shirt says it all

Well we only finished runners up in the end of what was a close Futsal/Indoor Soccer match.

Dead tired today, gave it my all last night. But I kept thinking what I could have done if the final wasn't straight after the corporate games training... anyway, I'm young - there's always another season to play.

Victory, victory, curtains and blinds...

Yes, the good old war cry of the really silly people sitting behind us at the Telstra Dome was amusing for a while. It was a free ad for Victory blinds, but the real victory was for the Melbourne Victory who edged out a 10-man Sydney team 3-2.

Fantastic atmosphere in the stadium with nearly 40,000 people paying their way to see a win over their arch rivals Sydney - because we all know that Melbourne is just soooo much better ;)

Shaking of the hands...

A penalty kick taken by the kind and caring Kevin Muscat.

A lovely father's day red card for the Sydney captain who got sent off. What a present.

Something in a name.

So, going to the Picasso Love and War exhibition gives one a new perspective when looking into things. Starting with his name you can see that there is actually more to it! hehe.

And I just realised that it does say "love" there in the background... Kinda makes it really weird..

Down by the docks

Actually there aren't many docks here, or those bulky dock workers moving whatever needs to be moved onto ships. The only bulky people you'll see here are the builders making even more apartments for people to live in - and then again they use massive cranes and bulldozers and catterpillar things, so I guess they don't have to be as bulky - they just have to pull on those levers.

There are a range of interesting things at Docklands, and they are made even more interesting at night. I now realise that one good thing about winter getting dark early are the lights turning on at Docklands.

The darkness and the lighting give the sculptures and structures an ambigiouity. Is that really a bird, or a light? Straight lines or shadowy bends? Girl, or guy?

Just don't take a picture of that shady character that you walk past, or the camera might just be thrown into the water...

Stop them whalers

The Sea Shepherd's "Farley Mowat" has been docked near Telstra Dome for the past week or so. Good on them for trying to stop those whalers trying to eat other massive whales. They also have this cute plastic toy whale near their walking plank that the Japanese also try to eat.

Crazy Japanese... those teeth marks are hard to get out...

yum

I love cherry ripe. I'm about to finish one off right now.

They had soem of those fundraiser things in the kitchen, and I reckon if there was an endless amount of $2 coins in my drawer, I'd eat them all. And get all fat.

That's all you can do here at work - eat at your desk. It helps ease the pain of actually doing work, and keeps me happy ;)

Better check if all these 5c coins add up to another bar of cherry ripe...

Coffee

Coffee makes you so much hyper! For those who don't know, I don't normally drink coffee. I don't really know why, perhaps because I have never had it before, and I've always stuck to water. But I had a mocha today (what the heck is a mocha anyway) and I just went off my head!

I had a coffee break in the afternoon with actual coffee!

I just kept talking and talking all afternoon and just kept on asking so many questions at work. Have I found this secret weapon that everyone else has been having? Or is it just making me hyper because I don't normally have it?

But as you know, the higher you get, the faster you fall d..o...www...n.nnn..........

I think I need sleep nowwww...

ps. sorry for not posting for a while to those still reading. or maybe no one's reading...

Docklands Dusk

Apprently IT guys find this funny

Two IT guys were chatting in a pub after work. "Guess what, mate," says the first IT guy, "yesterday, I met this gorgeous blonde girl in a bar."

"What did you do?" says the other IT guy.

"Well, I invited her over to my place, we had a couple of drinks, we got into the mood and then she suddenly asked me to take all her clothes off."

"You're kidding me!" says the second IT guy.

"I took her miniskirt off, and then I lifted her and put her on my desk next to my new laptop."

"Really? You got a new laptop?"

Yes, I would probably ask that same question. Even how big or how sharp the screen is on the laptop, because those screens are now oh-so-sexy! Yumm.

My screen's quite good even at 17". And so bright as well. Almost like looking into a real photo...

And Dell.com might be releasing a 20" soon!

Isn't it funny when you use the shaving cream bottle and spray it all over yourself because you thought it was the deordorant.

Yes yes, lap it up.

It's funny, but not when it happens to you...

Over the fence.

Don't you hate it when the ball goes over the fence. It's so much trouble trying to get it again. You gotta explain to the neighbours that you're quite a crap soccer player, and that somehow your friends ball was kicked into their yard all the way from down the street.

It's even worse when you're kicking the ball over the fence at Melbourne Uni hockey pitch - because that fence is like 20 feet tall. You have to run after it with shame as everyone points and laughs at you.

Ah, the troubles of a wannabe...

Guns and violins

If you didn't quite get the pun of the heading, it was supposed to sound like guns and "violence", but yes, lame Jash strikes again...
:)

I had the strangest inkling on Sunday morning to play the trumpet all of a sudden. It was like I had dreamed of becoming a great trumpeter guy, but I hadn't, and was awake. Most of my inklings go away - like the one I had about pilot, and flying all over the world to have hot stewardesses give me that scrumptious airplane food, and the one about becoming a doctor so that I can have a Dr. as my title. Chicks dig that you know.

Well this trumpet thing hasn't gone away, it's nearly a week later, and I still find myself figuring out a way to get hold of one, and to play it and play it well. The next James Morrison could be me - you never know. But as I searched the Internet on resources on how to play the trumpet, it suddenly dawned on me that this learning to play the trumpet wasn't an easy task - just like that pilot and doctor thing.

All these references about using your lips and pushing wind from your belly was sounding daunting. I haven't let my lips loose yet on all those lovely ladies, yet I found that this challenge of letting it loose on an unsuspecting trumpet quite strange. The fascination of playing this instrument still isn't receding!

For years (not so many years actually) I've been playing the clarinet, and even though I'm still crap at it (yes, self deprecation is a wonderful thing) I thought trying something else out might be refreshing. And a brand spanking new red trumpet might be the thing.

I could also try to play the french horn, but you know what they say about people who play french horn...

That time of year again

EB waves hello

So, since Quirky Jash has taken a hiatus this time of year, it will be me, "EB", doing the posting for a little while. It also seems that I will be resuming the position at the certain company that Quirky Jash works at.

I can say that the learning curve for learning Oracle Databases is quite steep. All this jargon that people talk, it is very strange. During my day at my work, all I do is eat carrots and find female bunnies to go hang out with, and hopefully get to know better (if you know what I mean). You know what they say about rabbits...

(They say they rabbits listen very well because they have big ears! I wonder what dirty things you were thinking about... rabbits aren't just objects you know.)

Getting those biscuits are a tad difficult...

It also comes to mind that it is quite hard to type on this keyboard. My paws can't quite type every letter, so I am afraid I will wear out Jash's backspace key. Sometimes I get jealous of the dextrous and nimble fingers that humans have. There's only so many ways you can eat a carrot when you can't chop it up. Although Jash gave me a juicer for my birthday that makes carrot juice verrrry nicely :)

Thanks Jash, you're the best.

EB attempting to wear out Jash's backspace key.

The life in Jasher's work building isn't so bad. When the ladies walk by, they like to pat my fur, the toilets are near his desk too, and there's this massive wheel that looks similar to the one in my house. They say I cannot run on it though, however they keep referring to this Ferris person. Apparently it's his wheel, so if I'm lucky maybe I can go run in it with Ferris some time.

Or I could bribe him with some chocolate...

Commonwealth Games 20km Mens' Walk

So the Mens walk was later that afternoon. It was more sunny, and the clothes were more modest. But then again I'm not sure if you want to see guys running down the street near your building in speedos!

If you look closely at the image above, I think this guy was cheating! You're supposed to have at least one foot on the ground aren't ya?

Commonwealth Games 20km Womens' Walk

Guess what happened to walk by my work building yesterday...?

So I rocked up to my car park a bit after 9AM and I see the games walkers already starting! I didn't think they'd start that early. But I planned to bring my camera along to take photographs, and give my 70-300mm lens a bit of a work out!
